Man takes off his shirt showing tattoos on his body

Getting a fresh tattoo is an exhilarating moment—but without proper care, your masterpiece can fade, scab excessively or even get infected. In this comprehensive guide, you’ll learn why tattoo aftercare matters, the exact routine top artists recommend and how Tatloc’s vegan tattoo balm helps you lock in color, soothe irritation and heal faster. Follow these steps for vibrant, long-lasting ink. ⸻ Why Proper Tattoo Aftercare Is Essential ? 1. Prevents Infection Fresh tattoos are essentially open wounds. Bacteria can invade if you skip cleaning or apply the wrong products, leading to redness, swelling or worse. 2. Minimizes Scabbing & Peeling Over-drying your tattoo causes thick scabs that pull out ink as they fall. The right moisturizer—like a thin layer of Tatloc balm—keeps the skin supple. 3. Locks in Color & Sharpness Moisturized skin holds ink better. A quality tattoo aftercare balm prevents premature fading so your colors stay vivid. 4. Speeds Up Healing Ingredients like shea butter, vitamin E and botanical extracts in Tatloc create an optimal healing environment, reducing downtime. ⸻ The 5-Step Tattoo Aftercare Routine 1. Gentle Cleansing (Day 1–3) • When: 2–3 hours after getting inked, then every 4–6 hours. • How: Wash hands → use a mild, fragrance-free soap → lukewarm water → gently clean the area → pat dry with a lint-free towel. • Why: Removes plasma, ink residue and bacteria. 2. First Balm Application (Day 1–3) • When: Within 15 minutes of cleansing. • How: Scoop a pea-sized amount of Tatloc balm → smooth over tattoo in circular motions → allow to absorb (skin should feel slightly tacky, not greasy). • Why: Seals in moisture, forms protective barrier. 3. Repeat Moisturizing (Day 4–14) • Frequency: 2–3 times daily or whenever the skin feels tight. • Tip: Apply a thinner layer as scabs form—too much product can suffocate the skin. 4. Protect & Soothe (Day 7–21) • Action: Continue using Tatloc lightly until scabs fall off naturally. • Extra Care: Avoid sun exposure; if you must go out, cover the tattoo or use SPF 30+ after it’s fully healed. 5. Long-Term Maintenance (Post-Healing) • Routine: Use Tatloc once daily as a moisturizer. • Benefit: Keeps skin healthy, prevents color fading and enhances your ink’s longevity.
